Tunnel To Towers Run Wake Forest, NC

“Tunnel to Towers” Run/Walk

A Community Walk/Run benefitting the Stephen Siller “Let Us Do Good” Foundation

Saturday, September 12

Runners/walkers will honor the heroism of Stephen Siller, a NYFD firefighter, husband, father, brother, and friend, who so courageously and valiantly ran from the Brooklyn Tunnel to the Twin Towers to assist in the rescue of victims on September 11, 2001. In honoring Stephen, we also pay tribute to other heroes who serve selflessly in our local communities as well as in the military, especially those fighting on our behalf in Iraq and Afghanistan today.

This run/walk will be a southern, community version of the annual Tunnel to Towers 5k Run which is held annually in New York City (www.tunneltotowersrun.org); proceeds will benefit the Stephen Stiller “Let Us Do Good” Foundation [a 501 (3) (c) organization] which distributes contributions to various charitable efforts (again, please see the website to see a full list of these charities).  In general, the proceeds will benefit children who have lost a parent in the 9/11 attacks and also those who have a parent serving in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as burn centers across the nation.

The run/walk will begin at 9 am. The Wake Forest Fire Department is currently partnering to assist in this event.

Course:  “Tunnel and Tower”

The course is approximately three (3) miles. Participants will start at the Wake Forest Fire Department, head west on Elm St., pass by the Wake Forest Police Department and the new town hall construction, turn right back onto Elm St, turn right onto White St., turn left at business 198, pass through the “tunnel” (under the railroad trestle) , turn left onto Front St. in front of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, turn left onto S. Main St., turn left onto the 98 Bypass, turn left onto Franklin St., pass the EMS station, turn left at the traffic circle onto Holding Ave., and end at the “tower” (the town’s water tower).

This will be a glorious and patriotic day for all in the Wake Forest community.
